Preparation workshop for season-long Training of Trainers

The project started preparations for a season-long Training of Trainers (TOT) course in vegetable IPM (cabbage, cauliflower), which will take place in Chiang Mai between 16 June and 19 September. Participants in the TOT will learn all aspects of crop and pest management in a participatory and experiential training process. They learn about IPM in a practical way as the participants themselves will grow the crop from seed to harvest.

IPM DANIDA is organizing this training in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DOA), the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE) and FAO's vegetable IPM program. The participants in the training (31 persons) are from DOA (7), DOAE (18), Department of Non-Formal Education (DNFE) (2), Royal Project Foundation (2),Lanna Oriental Hydroponics (1) and IPM DANIDA (1).

During the training the participants will not only learn about the practical and technical aspects of IPM but they will also learn how to teach IPM to farmers following the Farmer Field School (FFS) model. The participants will split up in 5 smaller groups who each will train a group of 20-25 farmers in 12 weekly sessions.

The season-long training course will focus on Integrated Crop and Pest Management in cauliflower and cabbage.
