Workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation of Diadegma semiclausum field release for the management of Diamondback Moth

The Thai government, through DOA and DOAE, and in collaboration with the Royal Project Foundation (RPF), the DANIDA IPM project and the FAO Regional Programme for Vegetable IPM in Asia, has initiated a renewed effort to import Diadegma semiclausum for release in highland brassica production systems for the management of the Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella). Initial releases are planned on organic plots in Doi Angkhang in Chiangmai Province and in IPM plots of farmer field schools in Tap-boek at Lom Kao district in the Highlands north of Phetchabun.

A workshop was organized from 7-10 November to design an effective monitoring system, initially to determine whether the parasitoid has established, and if so, to subsequently evaluate the parasitoid’s effectiveness and role in controlling DBM. Participants and resource persons in the workshop were from DOA, DOAE, RPF, Thai Education Foundation, DANIDA IPM and FAO.
